There’s a lot of data to suggest that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but a lot of us tend to dig into foods that are secretly desserts – bread-jam, syrupy pancakes instead of healthy foods. Experts say the wrong choice of breakfast can hamper your weight loss goals, and here’s how. Researchers conducted a study to find out how different breakfasts can affect the way people feel satisfied and full throughout the day. For this study, 20 girls were studied. The average age was 19 years old and the BMI was 28.6. The 7-day study was conducted. During this time, the girls were fed different breakfasts. The girls had three options: a cereal breakfast with normal protein (NP), a breakfast high in protein (HP), or they could skip breakfast. The girls followed this schedule for six days. Each girl had a new breakfast each day, or skipped breakfast. On the seventh day, researchers performed several tests and the girls answered questions regarding how they felt after eating breakfast at different times of the day. The results showed that eating a high-protein meal increased fullness throughout the day, and reduced hunger.
